ICAR West Zone Sports Tournament 2024 commenced with a grand inaugural ceremony at Ishwar Deshmukh College of Physical Education, Nagpur, at 10:00 AM today. ICAR-Central Institute for Cotton Research, Nagpur has hosted this tournament. Dr. Ravinder Singhal, IPS, Commissioner of Police, Nagpur, Chief Guest of the program did the honours of hoisting the ICAR Flag and presiding over the torch relay. Addressing the gathering, Dr. Ravinder Singhal emphasized the role of fitness in enhancing work efficiency and delivering better services. He acknowledged ICAR as the backbone of India’s agricultural research since 1928 and encouraged participants to continue excelling in sports alongside their professional commitments. At the outset, Dr YG Prasad, Chairman of Sports Tournaments and Director, ICAR-CICR, Nagpur extended a warm welcome to all the participants and highlighted the 45 year legacy of ICAR Sports tournament. He informed the participation of more than 600 sports persons drawn from 19 ICAR institutes across 4 states in the West Zone.
